Zenith Bank Is Four-Time Winner Of Nigeria’s Best Bank At 2024 Global Finance Awards

Zenith  Bank Plc has been named the Best Bank in Nigeria in the Global Finance Best Banks Awards 2024, the fourth time in a row. The bank was one of 36 African banks recognised by the prestigious Global Finance in its 31st Annual Best Bank Awards Winners announcement.

Global Finance’s editors made the selections after extensive consultations with corporate financial executives, bankers, banking consultants, and analysts around the world. The top banks were chosen based on a variety of criteria, ranging from quantitative to informed subjective. Asset growth, profitability, geographic reach, strategic relationships, new business development, and product innovation were all considered as objective criteria. Subjective criteria included the opinions of equity analysts, credit rating analysts, banking consultants, and other industry professionals.

Dr Ebenezer Onyeagwu, Zenith Bank’s outgoing Group Managing Director/Chief Executive, commented on the award, saying, “This award serves as a powerful affirmation of our resilience and tenacity despite headwinds and a very challenging macroeconomic environment.” Indeed, it is a testament to our position as Nigeria’s leading financial institution, committed to providing exceptional value to our stakeholders.” He thanked the founder and chairman, Jim Ovia, CFR, for his exceptional vision and critical role in establishing a resilient and enduring financial institution. He also praised the board for their astute insights and exemplary leadership, the staff for their unwavering commitment, and the customers for their staunch loyalty to the Zenith brand.

According to Joseph D. Giarraputo, publisher and editorial director of Global Finance, banking has reached another watershed moment with the debut of generative artificial intelligence, which promises to rewrite the industry playbook. He went on to say “In this ever-changing environment, the Best Bank Awards recognise the financial institutions that offer the broadest range of services, long-term reliability, and technological innovation.”

Global Finance’s “Best Banks Awards” are regarded as the most coveted and credible awards in the banking industry by the world’s most influential banking/finance and corporate professionals, with winners selected from 150 countries and territories across Africa, AsiaPacific, the Caribbean, Central America, Central and Eastern Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, North America, and Western Europe.
