Military On Rampage In Ebonyi, Attacks, Harasses Natives And Kills One
The Ishinkwo Development Union in the diaspora has condemned the ongoing attacks and harassment of the people of the Ishinkwo Autonomous Community in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, allegedly by Nigerian Army personnel.
Comrade Joseph Itumo, the group’s leader and Town Union President, disclosed this to journalists on Monday.
Comrade Itumo, who also used the opportunity to condemn the killing of one person, Bathelomy Otaji, in the early hours of Easter Sunday in the community, demanded a thorough investigation, arrest, and prosecution of those responsible for the heinous act.
According to our correspondent, the people of the Ishinkwo community are accusing the men of the Nigerian Army of killing the deceased.
He urged military authorities to investigate their men’s activities in the area to avoid further intimidation and harassment of innocent citizens.
Mr Itumo, who also condemned the frequent arrest of their Traditional Ruler, Ezeogo Josephat Nnana Ikegwu, urged the federal and state governments to speed up the process of finding a long-term solution to the perceived military-civilian impasse.
Efforts to persuade military authorities to respond to the allegations were unsuccessful.
