Dr. Stephen Akintayo, an investment coach and a strong supporter of the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, has stated that Nigeria would not be in this current situation if Peter Obi were President.
Akintayo stated in a post on his official X account, @drsakintayo, that Obi would have reduced the cost of governance as president.
He said: “People are tagging me here and there to comment on the current Nigeria situation, but what do you want me to say? I knew all of this would happen.
“I knew Buhari had set Nigeria back 30 years. I knew even if Peter Obi entered, we would still be in pain, but here’s what Peter Obi would have done differently than President Bola Tinubu.
“He would have reduced the cost of governance by not approving billion-dollar new cars for legislators while Nigerians suffer. We all would have noticed that the president is empathising with us all.
“He would have implemented more palliative and home-grown solutions to problems such as widespread conversion of cars to CNG, etc.
“He would have employed more people in the army and police, reducing security and creating jobs.
“He would have made a scapegoat out of bank executives who are simply rounding up and down dollars, as well as politicians who hoard dollars everywhere.
“He would have communicated with us more to give the youth hope. Hope is more important than anything else for young people.
“At this point, I have built my life so that even if a dollar goes from N10,000 to one dollar, I am fine. I spoke up for the common good of ordinary Nigerians, but you all abuse me day and night for my choice of Peter Obi.
“Some claim that I betrayed the Yoruba race. I hope Yorubas can buy dollars, food, and fuel at lower prices.
“For me, Tinubu is the President for the next three years or more. All we can do is pray for wisdom and God’s mercy on Nigeria at this point.
“On Your Mandate, we will stand for the next three years. But seriously, something urgent must be done for the sake of all of us.”
